Kev’s 7 for 70 challenge culminating in the Altra Yorkshire Marathon

In 2026, the year he turns 70, Kev is taking on an ambitious personal challenge: 7 for 70. To celebrate this milestone birthday, he decided to step outside his comfort zone and take part in seven running events throughout the year, building up to what will be his first marathon and, he jokes, probably his last.

Just a few days before his 70th birthday, Kev will cross the start line of the Altra Yorkshire Marathon.

Adding extra meaning to the challenge, Kev is using his milestone year to raise money for a charity that is very close to his heart. He is supporting PACT (Parents Association of Children with Tumours and Leukemia) in memory of Owen Jenkinson, a young man who sadly lost his battle with Ewing sarcoma last year.

PACT supports families of children undergoing cancer and leukemia treatment at Sheffield Children's Hospital. The charity provides special trips and treats for families, funds two holiday caravans, offers accommodation close to the hospital, and supports research projects. It also helps provide equipment for the ward, clinic and community nursing teams.

Kev won't be taking on the challenge alone. Throughout the year, he will be joined by several friends from Clifton Park Running Group, whose support and encouragement will help him every step of the way.

His challenge began with the Wickersley 10K on 8 March, and the team at Run For All look forward to welcoming Kev to the start line of the Altra Yorkshire Marathon on 18 October as he completes the final event in his inspiring 7 for 70 journey.
