Ten years after losing his mum to cancer, Kevin is continuing her legacy of helping others by raising money for Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).
When she passed away, Kevin's mum made one final request. Rather than spending money on funeral flowers, she asked friends and family to donate to Great Ormond Street Hospital instead.
Kevin said: "My mum was always helping others. It meant a lot to us that, even at her funeral, she wanted to make a difference to children and families who needed support."
A decade later, Kevin is still fundraising in her memory. To mark the anniversary, he set himself an ambitious challenge for 2026: to complete a half marathon every month and take part in every parkrun he can from 1 January through to the end of December.
To make the challenge even tougher, Kevin carries a special companion on every run.
"My mum absolutely loved teddy bears," he explained. "So I decided to carry Miles the Bear on my back during every challenge.”
Through his fundraising efforts, Kevin hopes to support the life-changing work carried out by Great Ormond Street Hospital. Donations help fund vital patient and family support services, specialist medical equipment, child-friendly facilities and pioneering research into rare and complex childhood illnesses.
By taking on hundreds of miles throughout the year, Kevin is not only testing his own endurance but also ensuring his mum's wish to help others lives on.
