Meet Rotary York Ainsty, a group of 32 members who come together each week to discuss social meets, club activities and local projects to benefit many local communities within York.
Rotary York Ainsty prides themselves in actively supporting community-based events, such as the Asda Foundation York 10K, where the group have been valued members of our team of Eventeers for the past four years. Their first involvement was in 2015 as marshals and again in 2016, cheering and keeping you motivated as you ventured around the course. The following year, the group manned a water station, ensuring all our runners were kept fully hydrated throughout their run. More recently, in 2018 and 2019, the team enjoyed helping out on the finish line and presenting you with your goody bag and all-important medal.
We asked Rotary York Ainsty what they would say to other groups thinking of volunteering at a Run For All event in the future:
“We would encourage other groups and volunteers to participate. There are various ways in which people can assist: general marshalling, manning water stations, manning the finish processing.”
“We find this satisfying with the thanks and appreciation from the competitors. It is always a busy day, but well-organised and rewarding.”
