Rizwan turns diagnosis into determination with Bury 10K challenge

Rizwan is set to take on the Bury 10K to support a cause close to his heart, raising funds for Bury Cancer Support Centre.

After being diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer in March 2025, Rizwan vowed to make the most of every opportunity and embrace new challenges. The Bury 10K will be his 11th 10K race of the year as he continues to push himself and inspire others.

Through his fundraising efforts, Rizwan hopes to give back to Bury Cancer Support Centre, an independent charity that provides personalised practical, emotional and psychological support to people affected by cancer, as well as their carers and those bereaved by the disease.

Speaking about his decision to take part, Rizwan said: "Following my diagnosis, I wanted to do something positive. While I still can, I want to support and raise awareness of the charities and organisations that make such a difference to people in our communities, whether that's through running, walking or taking on new challenges. The Bury 10K is a fantastic opportunity to do that."

This year's Bury 10K will be another important milestone in Rizwan's journey, as he continues to inspire others while raising vital funds for a charity that supports so many local people affected by cancer.
