Team Molly Continue £150,000 Fundraising Legacy at Altra Yorkshire Marathon Weekend

This year, Team Molly will take on the Altra Yorkshire Marathon and Altra Yorkshire 10 Mile in memory of Molly, during what would have been her 30th birthday week.

Since Molly's death, her friends, family and colleagues have raised more than £150,000 for cancer charities, and this year's challenge is set to continue that remarkable fundraising legacy. A team of 40 runners will head to York to celebrate Molly's life while raising vital funds for Weston Park Cancer Charity.

Molly was diagnosed with Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma (ACC), an extremely rare form of cancer. Tragically, she passed away just a year later. Because ACC is so rare, there is limited research into the disease and a lack of funding dedicated to finding better treatments and outcomes for those affected.

Despite facing intensive treatment, Molly showed extraordinary courage and determination. Inspired by the late Jane Tomlinson, she was committed to raising awareness of her condition and supporting others through fundraising. Just five months before she died, Molly completed the Sheffield 10K, refusing to let her diagnosis define her.

Today, those closest to Molly are continuing the work she started.

Marking both her legacy and what would have been her milestone 30th birthday, Team Molly are determined to bring the celebrations to York. Each runner will wear a mirror ball on their t-shirt, a tribute to Molly's vibrant personality, while a large group of family and friends will travel from Sheffield to cheer them on throughout the weekend.

Through their efforts, the team hopes to honour Molly's memory while supporting Weston Park Cancer Charity's work to fund research, improve cancer treatment and help create better outcomes for future patients facing a diagnosis similar to hers.

By taking on the challenge together, Team Molly is ensuring that Molly's passion, determination and impact continue to inspire others long after her passing.
