Jane and her brothers, Mark and Steven, are preparing to take on the Bury 10K this September in memory of their dad, Stuart Crossley, and to raise money for cancer research following his death from bowel cancer last October.
Stuart was diagnosed with bowel cancer in December 2022. Over the following years, he underwent major surgery and chemotherapy, and also suffered a stroke, which unfortunately limited his treatment options. The family sadly lost Stuart in October 2025, less than a month after his 69th birthday.
Reflecting on his loss, Jane said: “We miss our dad every day. He’s around us in the music we listen to, the memories we cherish and the sports we love.”
Stuart had always led an active life and was passionate about football, cycling, golf and running.
In the final weeks of his life, he asked his children to run a race together and raise money for Cancer Research. This September, they will be honouring that wish.
“We are running for Dad because he would have loved to be running alongside us today,” said Jane. “Taking part in the Bury 10K feels like the perfect way to celebrate his life while raising money for a cause that means so much to our family.”
